The police in Busoga North are investigating circumstances under which two fishermen allegedly drowned in Lake Kyoga and died.
The deceased have been identified as Kimeze Denis 26,Kayimukiro Livingstone 53, residents of Namulanda, Nkondo Subcounty in Buyende district
Preliminary investigations suggest that on the 15th/05/ 2023,at around midnight the duo went to harvest fish at Kasongoire Landing site together with their colleague identified as Samanya Ronald. While there, a storm allegedly overpowered their canoe forcing it to capsize, and they drowned. Samanya managed to swim out of the lake and survived narrowly.
Kasadha Michael the Busoga North police spokesperson confirmed the incident saying that the bodies of the deceased have been retrieved and taken for postmortem.
