The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) are hunting for their soldier who allegedly opened fire at his colleagues, killing two on the stop and leaving another critically injured.
The incident occured on Thursday July 13, 2023.
The suspect has been identified by authorities as Cpl Avugo Lomuro, a members of the Airforce Evacuation Component attached to the Mountain Division Signal Department.
CPl Avugo shot dead two male colleagues over misunderstanding whose details we are yet to get.
He also severely injured a female solider in the altercation.
The UPDF Deputy Spokesperson, Col. Deo Akiiki confirmed this report Friday afternoon, describing the incident as so unfortunate.
Akiiki said the UPDF was doing everything possible to capture Cpl Avugo to answer his charges.
Residents neighbouring the barracks told the media that at first, they thought the barracks was under attack by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group.
