Police in Rukungiri have arrested a 28 yrs old man for murder of his own 65-year-old biological father for unknown reasons.
It is alleged that on July 17, 2023 at around 10:00pm at Kateramo village, Kikongi parish, Bwambara sub-county, the deceased was inside the house with his grandchildren, Byamukama Jastus came and knocked on the door of his father (deceased) and one of his sublings Niwahereza Evans aged 12 years opened the door for him.
No sooner had Byamukama entered the house, than the started threatening the father that he was going to beat him.
The deceased cautioned him not to disturb him and requested him to go and sleep where he has been sleeping at Rwenshama.
However, the son instead became violent against the Father and picked a walking stick,started hitting the deceased, grabbed his neck and threw the victim on the bed.
The young children alarmed for the rescue of their grand father ( the late). The neighbor one Kamani Edson and others responded but it was too late to save the old man.
Kamani alerted the defence secretary Muyambi Protazi who traced and arrested the suspect and alerted Bikurungu Police which swung into action and took the suspect into police custody.
According to the Police spokesperson Kigezi region Elly Maate, the scene of crime was visited and documented by a team from homicide department, Crime intelligence and Scene of Crime officers.
The deceased’s body taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre IIl mortuary for postmortem.
