Police in Jinja have arrested and detained Micheal Kimera a Councillor at Jinja Northen Division Council and Buwekula cell LCI chairperson, Jamawa Kwegemya Waiswa on allegations of fraud.
It is alleged that in 2019, when Kimera was speaker of the then Mafubira sub-county connived with Jamawa who has been LCI chairperson for the last 18 years and fraudulently sold the land belonging to David Lukwagana in Buwekula to unsuspecting buyers.
The duo was locked up on WednesdayJuly 26, 2023 on the orders of the Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner, Lydia Kalemera after several complaints against them.
It has been established by the Eye Media, that Kimera has for long been involved in several land deals with Jamawa and that is how they split Lukwagana’s land into 11 small plots and sold it to other buyers.
A police officer who preferred anonymity told this publication that Kimera admitted to the charges in his statement.
“But it seems Jamawa is a hard core. She is insisting on being taken to court yet she is the very person who issued sales agreements to the current occupants,” said the police source Friday morning.
