Police in Buikwe district have in custody a Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier on allegations of defilement of his biological daughter.
The suspect detained at Njeru Central Police Station has been identified by the Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, Hellen Butoto as L/Cpl Gabriel Okedi.
Okedi who is attached to Naminya Army Detach in Wakisi Division, Buikwe district was arrested on Friday July 28, 2023.
It is alleged that between February and July this year, the UPDF officer defiled his 15-year-old daughter countless times.
Police got to know about it when concerned authorities reported the matter. A statement obtained from the girl points at her father, Okedi as the man responsible for her pregnancy.
“We have already done a medical examination and it is true the girl is pregnant,” said Butoto adding that the soldier is facing charges of aggrevated defilement.
