A man in whose compound a mob lynched a suspected thief at night is in police custody in Buikwe district on charges of murder.
Ssezibwa Police Spokesperson, Hellen Butoto confirmed the arrest of the suspect and said he is in custody at Njeru Central Police Station on charges of murder.
Butoto identified the suspect as Karim Kakaire, a resident of Nakalanga Village,wakisi Division Njeru municpalaity.
Independent reports indicate that on July 28, 2023 night, Kakaire saw someone his compound and made an alarm that attracted neighbours. The caught the man and lynched him from his (Kakaire’s) compound.
Later it was dicovered that the lynched person was Iddi Lutalo.
“After beating him and they saw that he is very weak they got a duck and tied against him that he had stolen it, then dragged him to the nearest junction and reported to the area LC I that there is thief”,said Butoto who condemned mob justice.
