Two habitual absentee teachers are in police custody at Obongi Central Police Station in the northern district of Obongi on orders of the Resident District Commissioner, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka.
The duo were arrested Monday July 31, 2023 during the routine monitoring by the RDC.
It is alleged that the two teachers are ever not on duty despite earning government salaries.
The two have been named as Aliga Rashid a teacher at Alibabito Primary School and Adiga Tom a teacher at Ewafa Primary School in Ewafa subcounty.
While monitoring UPE schools in the district, RDC Mpimbaza, his Deputy Mr Jawoko Denis and the Chairperson LC3 Ewafa subcounty took note of teachers who absconded from duty and made a follow-up on them during the validation exercise of civil servants.
The headteachers of the two primary schools informed the RDC’s office that they had written several complaints to the CAO and DEO but no action had been taken against the duo.
