The territorial police in Luuka are investigating a case of aggravated robbery and murder of a 36 year old boda boda rider by unknown assailants.
The August 1, 2023 midnight incident occurred at Bunafu A village, Bunafu parish, Ikumbya subcounty in Luuka district.
Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson, Michael Kasadha identified the deceased as YakubuMugabi, resident of Nawanyago village, Bunafu parish, Ikumbya subcounty in Luuka district.
It is alleged that at midnight, the deceased was called by a passenger yet to be identified to be dropped at a place yet to be known.
“However, in the morning at around 0700 am, Mugabi was found dead in a garden of beans where he is suspected to have been dragged after being murdered, and his motorcycle registration number UFS 777A Bajaj Boxer robbed. His body had cut on the head suspected to have been occasioned by a sharp object,” said Kasadha.
A team of police officers led by OC operations ASP Alinaitwe Joseph visited the scene. The body taken to Kiyunga health centre IV for postmortem.
“Exhibits of evidential value were recovered from the scene. Further inquiries are ongoing,” Kasadha added.
