Police in Kisoro are holding a 31-year-old man on allegations of beheading his own 5-year-old son for reasons not yet known.
The suspect who handed over himself to the police has been identified by Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate as Elias Kabeni a resident of Matyazo village, Nyarusiiza sub-county, Kisoro district.
It is alleged on that on the night of Tuesday August 29, 2023, Kabeni went to his mother’s house where the 5-year-old victim was staying and asked he wanted to go with him to his place.
And that on the way, Kabeni pulled out a machete and cut off the boy’s head before handing over himself to the police at Kisoro Central Police Station.
“Kabeni told his 65-year-old mother Jovia Nyirasheriburyo (grandmother to the deceased) that he wanted to go with his son to his house which is a few meter away. But he allegedly cut the boy’s throat and ran to handover himself to the police,” said Maate noting that incident occured at around 8:00pm Tuesday August 29, 2023.
The police has preferred murder against the suspect and has already exhibited a blood stained pair of trousers of the suspect.
