The territorial police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of a 60-years-old woman identified as Speria Mbabazi a resident of Kasiizi village, Muramba parish, Rutenga sub county in Kanungu district.
The deceased was last seen alive on May 26, 2024 at 7:00pm as she left Kakyere trading center.
Kigezi Region police spokesperson, Elly Maate has said that on her way when it was about only 150 meters to her home, the assailants ambushed and strangled her to death using a piece of cloth.
He says she was suspected to have had money since she had sold part of her land at 2 million UGX and had been seen with her biological son Abel Tusasibwe 34yrs old at the trading center buying clothes and other things.
“The police were notified and visited the scene with the police sniffer dog, managed to track two suspects who were arrested and are in custody to help in investigations,” said Maate.
Postmortem was done and body handed over to relatives for a decent burial.
