It was a moment of celebration, reflection, and heartfelt appreciation as Soroti City on Friday held a colorful farewell ceremony for its outgoing Resident City Commissioner (RCC), Mr. Peter Pex Paak, at Hyde Park.
Mr. Paak, who recently resigned from his position to join active politics, was honored by a wide range of stakeholders from across the region, marking the end of his tenure with praise for his dedication and service to the people of Soroti.
The ceremony was filled with warmth and admiration, with the highlight being a unique gesture from Hon. Moses Egunyu — the duly nominated NRM aspiring Member of Parliament.
As a token of appreciation for Paak’s leadership, Hon. Egunyu presented him with a goat, a symbolic gift that drew laughter and applause from the crowd.
“Mr. Paak has served Soroti City with loyalty, strength, and commitment. This is a small gesture to say thank you for the great work you’ve done,” Egunyu said.
The function, attended by political leaders, civil servants, elders, and youth representatives, was a blend of culture, unity, and gratitude. Speakers commended Mr. Paak’s approach to leadership, describing him as firm, people-centered, and result-oriented.
In his farewell remarks, Peter Pex Paak expressed deep appreciation to the people of Soroti City for the support rendered to him during his time in office. He confirmed his intention to represent Dodoth East Constituency in the upcoming parliamentary elections and called for continued unity and development-focused politics.
“This is not goodbye, but the beginning of another journey to serve the people. I remain committed to the values of patriotism and service,” Paak said to resounding applause.
The event concluded with entertainment, traditional dances, and photo moments, making it a truly memorable send-off for a man many described as “a leader who leaves a legacy.”
As Soroti City closes this chapter, all eyes now turn to Dodoth East, where Mr. Paak is expected to shake up the political landscape.
