Njeru Police are under public scrutiny following the quiet release of Aminah Mutesi, the former Jinja City Inspector of Schools, who had been arrested in connection with the ritual murder of Jessica Mutesi — a woman whose body was exhumed from Mutesi’s compound just days ago.

Information reaching The Eye Media reveals that Mutesi was released from police custody on the evening of June 18, 2025, under unclear circumstances. This has sparked outrage and fear among residents and relatives of the deceased.

“She was caught red-handed with a dead body buried in her own compound. How can such a person walk free in just days?” asked Nalwoga Brenda, a resident of Njeru. “It’s like the dead have no justice in this country.”

Another angry local, Musoke Emmanuel, questioned the integrity of the investigation: “What kind of system lets a suspected ritual killer roam free while the family of the deceased is still mourning? This is not just injustice — it’s insult.”

“This is a slap in the face of every Ugandan who still believes in law and order,” commented Samuel Waiswa, a human rights activist. “It clearly shows that there are untouchables in our society.”

By press time, police officials in Njeru had not issued a formal statement regarding her release. Meanwhile, the two male suspects arrested in connection with the same case remain in custody at Njeru Police Station.

When contacted by The Eye Media, Ssezibwa region Police Spokesperson Hellen Butoto said she had also just heard from other sources that Mutesi Aminah had been released on bond. She referred our reporters to the Officer in Charge of CID at Njeru Police Station for further details.

The public now demands answers — and justice.
