It was song, dance and a powerful political message as children from Kayunga District used a performance to urge voters to re-elect President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in the next general elections.
The occasion was the official opening of the Mengo Zonal Presidential Skilling Hub in Nazigo Kayunga and the message was loud and clear: “Tova Ku Main.”
Sung by students of Kangulumira Public Secondary School, the lively composition captured the attention of all present, prior to the arrival of the President, as the children praised the peace, stability and prosperity Uganda is enjoying under Museveni’s leadership.
“We are here, healthy, confident and dreaming big because of one man — President Museveni. Losing him would be the biggest mistake Uganda ever makes,” the children sang, as the crowd burst into cheers and ululations.
The chorus of the song, “Tova Ku Main,” echoed through the event grounds, turning what was meant to be a performance into a political rallying cry. The children listed the peace in northern Uganda, universal education, and the establishment of skilling hubs as reasons Ugandans should not be swayed by opposition rhetoric.
“Let those who are never satisfied continue grumbling. We, the children of Uganda, know what is good for this country and we say — Tova Ku Main!” one student boldly declared after the performance, drawing thunderous applause.
A similar patriotic appeal came from students of Ndeeba Secondary School, Kayunga, who performed a spoken word piece praising Museveni’s leadership.
“We live in a peaceful Uganda. Our roads are better, we can go to school, and we have hope because President Museveni is still in charge. Why would anyone want to change that?” the students asked rhetorically.
The performances visibly moved the gathering, with several community leaders and residents vowing to intensify mobilization for the President.
“When even children can recognize the transformation and stability Museveni has brought, what excuse do we adults have?” remarked a parent who attended the event.
The Presidential Skilling Hub, one of several across the country, is aimed at equipping youth with practical vocational skills to create jobs and fight unemployment — another cornerstone of the NRM government’s legacy.
“President Museveni is not just a leader; he is a father to the nation. We should protect what he has built,” another performer sang.
With such messages coming straight from the younger generation, many say the writing is on the wall — Kayunga remains firmly in the Tova Ku Main lane.
