As the 2026 general elections draw closer, the political atmosphere in Iganga District is already buzzing with energy — and one name is dominating conversations in trading centres, WhatsApp groups, and village gatherings: Mariam Seif.
Dubbed by many as “the youngest and most beautiful” among all contenders for the Woman MP seat in Iganga District, Mariam Seif is not just a pretty face — she is fast proving to be a force to reckon with in the political arena. Her gentle smile, snow-white teeth, soft-spoken voice and radiant personality have captivated many, especially the youth who make up the largest demographic of the district.
But beyond her admirable looks and charm, Seif’s appeal lies deeply in her actions. She has already left an indelible mark in several communities by drilling boreholes in water-stressed villages and actively supporting youth and women groups through income-generating activities and start-up capital.
“She speaks softly, but her actions are loud. She doesn’t shout slogans — she shows up, listens and delivers,” said Aisha Nandudu, a women’s leader in Bulamagi.
In a district where political rhetoric has often overshadowed service delivery, Seif is shifting the tide with her practical and people-centred approach. Her slogan, “Be Safe with Seif”, is resonating strongly, especially with women and young voters who see her as a symbol of hope and renewal.
“Iganga has had its share of leaders, but Seif brings a different vibe. She is relatable, approachable, and genuinely cares,” says Isma Mugoya, a youth leader in Nakavule.
Her slogan in Lusoga, “Buli muntu wakufuna akaseko kumatama” (Everyone will find reason to smile), captures the spirit of her campaign — inclusive, optimistic, and focused on real transformation.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer hopeful enjoys growing grassroots support and her mobilisation tactics — from community clean-ups to medical camps and household visits — are bridging the gap between politics and people.
Political analysts have described her campaign as the most dynamic and organic among all the contenders.
“If the election was held today, Mariam Seif would be a runaway winner. She’s built real connections, not just posters,” noted a political observer in Iganga Town.
As the clock ticks toward nomination day, Seif’s star continues to rise. Whether at burial ceremonies, youth concerts, or women’s savings meetings, her presence is being felt — and welcomed.
In a district longing for responsive and refreshing leadership, Mariam Seif may just be the face of Iganga’s political future. And if current trends are anything to go by, “Be Safe with Seif” could soon become a national tagline.
