Kamuli – In a politically charged moment for Kamuli Municipality, incumbent MP Hon. Baroda Kayanga Watongola has officially been nominated to contest for the NRM party flag in the upcoming primaries.
Baroda, who has been serving as an independent MP, was nominated by the Chairperson of the NRM Electoral Commission, Dr. Tanga Odoi, amid cheers from her supporters.

“I am coming home to strengthen our ability to lobby for development,” Baroda told reporters shortly after her nomination. “Through NRM, I believe Kamuli Municipality can benefit more, especially in infrastructure, youth programs, and education.”
The nomination comes as the ruling party’s internal processes intensify ahead of the June 30th deadline. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to pick nomination forms on June 28th, further setting the stage for what is shaping up to be a heated political season.
Baroda’s switch from independent to NRM has triggered excitement in Kamuli’s political circles, with party loyalists praising her decision as “timely and strategic.” Some observers believe her move strengthens the party’s position in the municipality and signals unity ahead of the 2026 general elections.
“She has always worked with the people at heart. Now that she’s back in the NRM fold, we expect even greater impact,” said one enthusiastic supporter.
With her nomination now official, all eyes are on the forthcoming NRM primaries, where Baroda is expected to be a formidable contender.
