JINJA – A fresh wave of grassroots enthusiasm is sweeping through Buwekula–Namulesa Ward in Jinja City’s Northern Division, following the official declaration of Faridah Namulondo, a celebrated journalist and community activist, who is contesting to become the Woman Councilor representing Buwekula–Namulesa Ward.
Namulondo, a popular news reporter with NBS FM 89.4, is widely recognized for her passionate advocacy for women and children’s affairs.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and extensive training in human rights defense, she has long used her voice to speak for the voiceless—and now she’s seeking to turn advocacy into action at the council level.
“I’ve always believed that leadership starts with service. I want to represent the women and children of Buwekula with honesty, humility, and commitment,” Namulondo told The Eye Media after confirming her candidacy.
Her announcement has been met with overwhelming support from across the ward, where residents describe her as a compassionate, approachable, and effective mobilizer. From supporting girls’ education and domestic violence survivors to fighting for rights of a woman, Namulondo has consistently placed community first.
“Faridah has always stood for women. She has been our voice on radio, in community meetings, and now she wants to take that fight to the council. We’re fully behind her,” said Prossy Kyomuhendo, a voter in Namulesa.
Namulondo’s campaign will focus on improving access to healthcare, promoting girls’ education, empowering women economically, and strengthening family values. She is also advocating for transparency and better representation of women’s issues in local decision-making.
Her involvement in human rights work has equipped her with skills in leadership, policy, and community engagement, making her one of the most prepared candidates in the race.
Observers believe Namulondo’s deep connection to the grassroots, her communication skills, and her unwavering commitment to justice position her as the frontrunner in the race.
As the 2026 local elections approach, Faridah Namulondo is emerging as the face of transformative, community-based leadership, set to sweep the Buwekula–Namulesa ward with a message of dignity, service, and hope.
