The Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations and First Son, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has issued a stern directive that all presidential candidates in the upcoming elections will be guarded exclusively by the Special Forces Command (SFC).

In a strongly worded tweet posted and edited at 11:43 AM on Sunday morning, General Muhoozi, also known by his alias General Rufu, stated:
“I have said it once and for all, ALL Presidential Candidates will be guarded ONLY by SFC! Any personal arrangements that do not concur with our standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be smashed immediately.”
The declaration appears to be a response to reports that some presidential aspirants are making independent security arrangements outside of official protocol. Muhoozi warned that any such personal initiatives will not be tolerated.

The move signals tighter military oversight of the electoral process and underscores the central role SFC will play in providing security for all candidates, regardless of political affiliation.
This announcement is likely to spark fresh debate about the militarization of politics and the autonomy of candidates during the campaign period. While some view it as a measure to ensure fairness and national security, critics may interpret it as a tool to exert control over opposition movements.
More reactions from political actors and civil society are expected in the coming days as Uganda gears up for a tense and closely watched electoral season.
