President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni will be nominated this Tuesday, September 23, 2025, to run for yet another term in office. His decision is not an act of personal ambition but a profound favour to the people of Uganda. At a time when many nations are crippled by instability, economic reversals, and leadership voids, Uganda continues to thrive because of one constant—Museveni’s steady hand at the helm.
Experience That Serves Uganda
For close to four decades, Museveni has accumulated unmatched statecraft expertise. His knowledge of governance, peacebuilding, and economic transformation is a national treasure. With him in charge, Uganda enjoys stability that other countries can only envy.
Safeguarding Development Programs
Across the country, development programs are moving in one direction—forward. From the Parish Development Model to universal education, industrial parks, and road infrastructure, the progress has been steady. A sudden change in leadership would risk derailing this trajectory. Ghana, after Kwame Nkrumah’s removal, or Libya after Muammar Gaddafi’s ouster, remind us how quickly countries can regress when visionary leadership is cut short. Uganda cannot afford such a mistake.
Mentoring the Next President
Uganda’s next president should not be a product of chance or trial and error. Museveni’s continued leadership allows him time to mentor a successor—someone who learns directly under his guidance and enters office prepared, not a novice struggling to learn on the job. This structured mentorship is Uganda’s insurance policy for a smooth transition in the future.
Seed Capital That Transforms Lives
Beyond speeches, Museveni has invested directly in the people. Through seed capital, he has empowered women, youth, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), elders, and most recently MCs, panelists, and ghetto youth. These interventions are breaking cycles of poverty, nurturing enterprise, and spreading prosperity across Uganda’s communities.
Youth Skilling: Building a Generation of Innovators
Equally, his youth skilling programs are reshaping Uganda’s future. From ICT to mechanics, tailoring to agribusiness, young people are being equipped with practical skills to become job creators rather than job seekers. This is Museveni’s legacy—preparing a resilient generation that will keep Uganda competitive globally.
Therefore, Museveni steps forward for nomination on September 23, 2025, Ugandans are reminded that his continued leadership is more than a candidacy—it is continuity, stability, and a safeguard against regression. His offer to lead again is truly a golden guarantee for Uganda’s present and its future.
