Police Constable Rapheal Opio Akol was last night at around 11:00pm shot dead in an ambush laid by the Pokot warriors in Nakapiripirit district.
In response to this heinous act, the Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) swiftly intervened and managed to put out of action one of the terrible warriors in involved.
At the scene, a bow and six arrows were recovered, serving as a testament to the grave intentions of the attackers.
The Nakapiripirit District Police Commander, accompanied by a diligent investigative team, conducted an examination of the area and discovered two spent cartridges, crucial evidence that would aid in the pursuit of justice.
Mt Moroto Region Police Spokesperson, Mike Longole has condemned the act.
He assured the public that no stone would be left unturned in the quest to apprehend and prosecute all individuals involved in this heinous crime.
Constable Opio’s body has been transported to Moroto Regional Referral Hospital for post-mortem examination.
