Police at CPS Kampala have in custody the driver of a motor vehicle, registration number UAZ 515C who made a deliberate attempt to run over a traffic officer on Kampala Road.
The incident that occurred Tuesday evening was captured in a video circulating on social media, wherein a traffic place officer, Josam Katongole was attempting to stop the vehicle, but the driver chose to endanger the life of the police officer.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango has identified the suspect as Isaac Mukwaya.
On arrest, Onyango says, Mukwaya attempted to deceive the authorities by pretending to be sick.
“However, upon examination, it was determined that he was in normal health and had intentionally inserted the cannula into his hand.
Consequently, Mukwaya was arrested and is being detained at CPS Kampala,” he said Tuesday night.
The police have filed three charges against Mukwaya; Violating traffic lights, Reckless driving and attempted murder.
