Shock engulfed residents of Kagunga cell, Pirate Parish in Muhanga Town council, Rukiga District July 20, 2023 after finding a renowned nurse and friend to many, dead inside her rented room.
As per the Police investigating the incident, the diseased has been identified as Christine Naturinda, 24, a nurse attached to Karorwa HCII.
Naturinda has been staying alone in a single rented room in Kagunga cell.
Her neigbour Dezideria Rubarema, 48, got concerned at around midday after not seeing Naturinda since morning and yet her room had no padlock.
The vigilant neighbor knocked at Naturinda’s door in vain until he tried to push, only to realise she had not locked.
And when he peeped, he set eyes on Naturinda’s lifeless body on her bed and called the police for management.
Police say they recovered two bottles with smelly substances from her room.
The smell of the substances in the bottles and the reason for not locking her door are raising suspension of suicide.
“Our police team has conveyed the body to hospital for postmortem. Two bottles one of Rwenzori and another one for mountain dew soda were recovered in the room with smelly substances,” said Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson.
We have learnt that the two bottles and some internal organs have been extracted and submitted to the region for onward submission to GAL for analysis and establish the actual cause of death.
“So far no arrest made,” said Maate, noting that the body had no external injuries.
