Police in Apeitolim, Napak district have arrested a man aged 18 years for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl.
The police has named the supect as Michael Okia of Locwae village, Apeitolim Parish, Apeitolim Sub-county, Napak District.
It is alleged that the parents left the girl alone at home to attend prayers, during which time the suspect took advantage of the situation and defiled the little girl.
Mike Longole, the Acting Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson said Wednesday August 2, 2023 evening that the suspect tried to sneak away but police managed to to get him.
“Police investigators have visited the scene and gathered vital evidence to support the charge against the suspect. Once the investigations are completed, he will be arraigned in court to face justice,” he said.
“We appeal to all parents to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children. It is crucial to avoid leaving little ones unattended and instead entrust them to the care of a responsible person whenever they need to leave home or travel. This will significantly reduce the risk of harm and protect our children from potential dangers,” Longole added.
