Two individuals were Sunday August 6, 2023 evening killed in a hit and run accident in Kanungu district.
The 5:00pm accident occured near Kihihi primary school along Kihihi-Kasese road.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate said it involved Motor vehicle Reg No UBN 790V trailer White in color which Knocked abd killed an adult female passenger and her 3year old child whose particulars could not yet be established.
The deceased were traveling on a motorcycle whose rider survived with serious injuries.
The bodies were taken to Kihihi health centre IV mortuary for postmortem as investigations commence.
Maate says upon committing the crime, the trailer driver took off but was later intercepted by Police at Nyamirama-Rukungiri road.
The driver was arrested and detained at Nyamirama Police Station whereas the vehicle was impounded.
