Police in Nakaseke is holding Charles Muwonge the Senior Assistant Chief Administrative Officer (SACAO) in charge of Kikamuli Sub-county over alleged theft.
Muwonge was arrested Thursday August 17, 2023 evening together with his Sub-county cashier Joakim Sebusolo by detetives from Kiwoko Police Station.
The duo allegedly stole shillings 35 million from the sub county account and shared it.
ASP Sam Twineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson told The Eye Media Friday morning that the Shs 35m which the suspects stole was government grant meant for the road works on Kyasa Mpanga, Nsavu Lusozo, Manju and Lutwlaji roads.
“Upon receiving the information from the area LCIII chairman, Robert Bogere Senuu our police team apprehended the suspects, recorded statements from relevant witnesses and the suspects have confessed to have embezzled the money,” said Twineamazima.
