The Kabale Municipality Commercial Officer is the hands of police at Kabale Central Police Station on charges of obtaining money by false pretence and issuing a bouncing cheque.
The suspect identified as Federisi Akankwasa was on Monday smoked out of his hideout following months of being hunted by the police.
The case was reported by Leo Mbabazi a resident of Kigongi B” cell Central ward/ division Kabale municipality/ district.
It’s alleged that the suspect sold an estate in Kakoba Mbarara city to the complaint in December, 2022, which they had agreed at 550m and he deposited 100m to him, but eventually resold it to another person and told him that was no longer selling.
And instead of paying back the 100m to the complainant, he paid only 50,250,000= remaining with a balance of 49 million for which he issued a bank cheque which bounced in February 2023.
The case was reported at Kabale on the 13/03/2023, but the suspect went in hiding until he was arrested on Monday from within Kabale.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, Elly Maate says that upon completion of inquiries, the suspect will be produced before courts of law to answer charges accordingly.
