As Ugandans especially National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters gear up for the National liberation day, President is set to address the national on several matters pertaining the 1980s bush war.

The address which will be televised on all televisions and radios and other online platforms, is scheduled for Thursday January 25, 2024 at 8pm.

This was confirmed by the Presidential Press Unit (PPU) in a Wednesday media release.

“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) would like the general public that tomorrow Thursday, January 25, 2024, at 8PM, His Excellence Gen. (Rtd) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander-In-Chief of Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF) will deliver his message on the occasion of the NRM Liberation Day, as the nation celebrates 38 years since liberation,” reads part of the release.

The NRA Liberation day to be celebrated at Wakitaka play ground in the Northern Division of Jinja city, is slated for January 26, 2024.

The day aims at recognizing the efforts of the NRA warriors led by Gen. Museveni who unseat the previous regimes after the 1980-1986 guerrilla war.

Addressing members of the city development forum yesterday at Jinja city hall, Darius Nandinda, the Jinja City Resident Commissioner (RCC) who is leading the local organization committee of the event, expressed readiness, saying the organization is nearly complete.

“This day is not only for NRM members, it is for all Ugandans who enjoy the peace and stability brought by the NRM government and it is open to everyone,” he said.
