Denis Avaga 27, Askari guarding Madhvani sugarcane plantations, resident of Mawoito A village, Kakira Town Council, Jinja district on February 20, 2024 was stabbed to death by another man he found having sex with his wife in their bedroom.
The deceased returned back from work at around 10:00pm and purportedly overheard his wife screaming above her voice from their bed.
Kiira region police spokesperson, James Mubi says the loud screaming prompted Avaga to kick the door hard and gained entry only to find his 32-year-old wife, Agnes Agidru in the act of cheating with another man identified as Raphael
Onzima aged 26 a sugarcane cutter working with Kakira Sugar Limited and resident of Mutai camp in Kakira Town Council.
The trouble causer woman (Agidru) also works with Kakira sugar Limited as a causal labourer.
“When the two were caught having sex serious fight immediately erupted between the two men. The prime suspect Raphael Onzima allegedly picked up a knife and stabbed Denis Avaga (owner of the wife) in the chest, stomach and arm. The deep stabbing in the chest led to serious bleeding and Avaga succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to Madhvani hospital for medical attention and treatment,” said SP Mubi.
After stabbing the wife’s owner, Onzima ran naked from the crime scene to Kakira CPS to save his life from being lynched by the angry community.
“Agnes Agidru also ran for her dear life naked from the scene of crime up to Wanyange in Kakira Town Council and hid in the sugarcane plantation from where police arrested her.
In addition to Onzima (prime suspect) and Agnes (the cheating wife), police have also arrested three other suspects for their role in the matter.
Among the three other suspects are Geoffrey Echoku the neighbour who cheered on as the two men fought until Onzima killed the other, Peter Ocheng, the Landlord and owner of the knife used in the murder and Pamela Ocheng the Landlord’s wife who allegedly thoroughly cleaned the blood at the scene of crime.
Preliminary report indicates that, Raphael Onzima and Agnes Agidru have been moving around bars in Kakira Town Council holding hands and kissing in public as though they were officially married.
