Tuesday June 11, 2024 Parliament was visible deserted by most of the legislators and the whole place was too quiet. There was tension.

The Eye Media has established that the tension at Parliament was caused by the summonses issues by the Crime Investigations Directorate ordering at least 10 Members of Parliament to appear to Kibuli Police Headquarters this Wednesday June 12, 2024 morning.

The summoned legislators are allegedly suspects of corruption at Parliament or at least have some vital information needed by the detectives.

This comes 5 days after the detention of the three legislators Paul Akamba of Busiki County, Yusuf Mutembuli of Bunyole West and Cissy Namujju of Lwengo on Thursday last week.

Those summoned and the ones not ‘yet’ summoned are in fear of who could be next to be thrown in police cells hence not stepping at or even near the August House.

“It’s true majority of our colleagues are fearing to come to Parliament especially those who know that their hands are not clean. But for us we are here to execute our duties as people’s representatives,” said Bbaale County MP Charles Tebandeke.

Lwemiyaga County MP, Theodore Ssekikubo has fears that the reading of budget tomorrow June 13, 2024 may be boycotted by the majority of the legislators unless government gives them a confirmation on their safety at Kololo.

“Unless assurance is given to the Mps, we are likely to have a poor turn up of legislators at the reading of the national budget on Thursday this week,” he said.
