Kayunga Elderly Widow Denounces Sons Including KCCA Engineer Over Land Wrangle

Kayunga – In a heartbreaking tale of betrayal and greed, an elderly widow, Justine Kyabanji, has denounced her own sons, Matovu Bashir and Lubega Moses, for tormenting her over land she legally acquired with her late husband. Kyabanji, who had hoped to enjoy the sunset of her life in peace, now lives in fear, hounded by the very children she nurtured and educated.

Matovu Bashir, an Engineering Assistant at KCCA, has emerged as the ringleader in this treacherous scheme, dragging his aging mother to police countless times under the false pretext of trespassing on her own land. This very property, located in Kuffu village, Busaana Town Council, was lawfully acquired by Kyabanji and her late husband, Henry Lubega, when Matovu was merely three years old.

Now, in a sickening twist of fate, the sons claim ownership and have relentlessly harassed their mother, attempting to evict her from the only home she has ever known.

The elderly widow, exhausted from years of psychological and emotional torment, took a desperate step on Monday by camping at the office of the Kayunga Resident District Commissioner (RDC), seeking sanctuary from the incessant threats made by her ungrateful sons. Tearfully, she revealed to Deputy RDC Trevor Solomon Baleke that her life was in danger.

“They want to kill me. They have been making calls, saying they are coming for my head since I refused to vacate their so-called land,” she wept before the RDC.

It took Baleke hours of counseling and reassurance to convince Kyabanji to return to her home as authorities took up the matter. The widow, however, made it clear that she no longer considers Matovu and Moses her children.

“I regret giving birth to these boys. I suffered to raise them, put them through school, and yet this is the reward I get? From today, I have no sons. I am just a woman who never bore a boy child,” she said in a fit of sorrow and disappointment.

The shocking betrayal of Kyabanji has left the community in disbelief, with many condemning the selfish and inhumane actions of her sons. While the matter is now under investigation, one thing is clear: the greed of Matovu and Moses has forever severed the sacred bond of mother and child.

Justice must prevail, and society must not allow such acts of cruelty to go unpunished. The elderly, especially parents who have sacrificed everything for their children, deserve respect, love, and above all, the right to live in peace.
