Following intense public pressure and The Eye Media’s expose titled “Njeru Police on the Spot for Releasing Ritual Murder Suspects Aminah Mutesi -former Jinja City Inspector of Schools” the Police at Njeru have finally released what appears to be a progressive report regarding the brutal murder of Jesca Mutesi, whose decomposing body was exhumed from the compound of one Mutesi Amina, a woman now controversially out on police bond.
The case, which has rocked Nyenga Division in Njeru Municipality, involves allegations of ritual sacrifice, betrayal, and police laxity in handling suspected murderers.
In the unsigned police report dated June 21, 2025, police confirm that the victim, Jesca Mutesi, went missing in April after being lured by Gasyodo Nicholas alias Dan under the guise of a job offer. Dan later confessed to killing and burying her in the compound of his “boss” — Mutesi Amina, the woman who is now at the centre of public outrage for being released on police bond along with co-suspect David aka Daily Income.
“We are not fools. You can’t exhume a body from someone’s compound, find that they were involved in some deal, and then say there’s no evidence!” an angry resident, Rebecca Nansubuga, told The Eye Media.
In the report, Dan confessed to killing Jesca with David, allegedly on instructions from Amina, who was reportedly offering UGX 3 million for a human sacrifice. However, police claim they found “no corroborative evidence” linking Amina and David to the actual killing — a conclusion that has left many in disbelief.
“So Dan just woke up and killed someone to bury in Amina’s compound out of the blue? Is that how casual murder is these days?” questioned Ssalongo Mubiru, a boda boda rider in Nyenga. “We need justice for Jesca, not technical excuses.”
Despite Dan’s confession and leading investigators to the grave, Amina — in whose compound the crime was committed — was merely “interviewed” and then released, allegedly to allow further inquiries as per the Resident State Attorney’s guidance.
“This is why people have lost trust in the justice system. You arrest a witchdoctor, find a body in her compound, and then let her go because there is ‘no corroboration’?” fumed, a youth activist in Njeru.
The Eye Media has established that the regional DPP advised police to corroborate Dan’s claims with physical evidence placing Amina and David at the crime scene — something police claim to be “still working on.” This means the police submitted the file to the DPP with gaps for perusal. However, critics argue that the house itself is enough evidence to implicate the owner.
“The house belongs to her, the grave is in her compound, the victim was killed and buried there, and Dan says she paid for it. What more do they want? A signed receipt?” asked another resident .
The report also contradicts earlier police silence, raising questions about the timing and motives behind its release.
“That police report only came out after The Eye Media exposed them yesterday. Otherwise they were just going to keep quiet like nothing happened,” he added.
As it stands, only Dan has been charged and appeared before court, while Amina and David walk free on bond — a move that has shaken community confidence in the police and judicial processes.
The family of the late Jesca Mutesi is reportedly devastated and fears that justice may never be served.
“We are pained. They took her, killed her, buried her like an animal — now they are mocking her spirit by releasing suspects,” a family member told this publication.
The Eye Media will continue following this story and remains committed to holding authorities accountable as the search for justice continues in Jesca Mutesi’s memory.
