Last Friday, Kalangala District Woman MP, Helen Nakimuli launched a campaign to aimed at fundraising for the establishing the ever first women and youth skilling center in Ssese Islands.
Nakimu used the baleted Women’s Day celebrations for her district to launch the drive. The function was held at Kibanga Primary School play grounds.
She said when she was a young girl, she had a dream to empower her fellows to create a change in our day today lives.
“I’m so happy that I have been doing this & more but this Kalangala Women & Youth Skilling Center will really bring my dream to life as it will impact lives,” she noted.
She further explained that the skilling center would turn women and youth of Kalangala into job creators hence curbing the surging unemployment.
The MP was flanked by fellow Legislators led by the Leader of Opposition Mathias Mpuuga, Francis Katabaazi (Kalungu East), Juliet Kakande (Masaka City Woman MP), Joyce Bagala (Mityana District WMP), Twaha Kagabo (Bukoto South) and Myanja Ssentay.
Other dignitaries included Kalangala District leaders, Religious leaders, members of the Private sector, the business community and other stakeholders
Over 40 million Uganda shillings was collected on the spot.
