Mr. Grace Turyomusi, the headteacher at Muriisa Primary School located in Ntungamo Sub county, Ntungamo district last week sweated plasma as coordinators from the Office of the National Chairman of NRM visited his school and found that it has no pit latrines.
Muriisa Primary is one of the historical schools in the district.
The school with a population 920 pupils has only 3 stances of pitlatrine shared between teachers and their learners.
Asked to explain where he puts the UPE
grant of Ugx 4,250,000 extended to the school per term by government, the headteacher fumbled.
The pupils during the break sessions, have to fight to use the latrine opting others to poor disposal of feces and urine that strongly risks sanitary concerns.
“I even wonder how safe especially the girls are since they share the same latrine with the boys!” – stated Ms. Sharon the area ONC coordinator.
