Police in Arua city are holding a 23-year-old woman on allegations of hacking to death her husband.
The suspect has been identified as Monica Amaniyo.
Amaniyo allegedly stabbed Robert Munguci in a domestic brawl on night.
The incident took place in Arua Central Division, Arua City where the deceased lived with his killer wife.
West Nile Regional police Spokesperson, Josephine Angucia, says the deceased arrived home around 1:30 am and a heated argument ensued between the couple over a bag and other household belongings.
During the brawl, Amaniyo allegedly grabbed a knife and stabbed Munguci to death.
“It is alleged that on May 7, 2023, at about 1:30 am the deceased arrived at home and picked a quarrel with the suspect who happens to be his wife over a bag and other household properties.
This quarrel made the suspect stab her husband to death using a knife,” said Angucia
Police officers quickly responded to the scene and apprehended Amaniyo who is now at Arua Central Police Station.
The boy of the deceased was taken to Arua Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The police in Arua receives a lot of domestic violence cases. Just a month earlier, on April 9, 2023, another woman allegedly killed her husband, Rogers Mudua, 35, following a domestic dispute in their home in Ewanyapa cell, Komite ward.
In that incident, the woman identified as Asianzu, struck her husband with a saucepan, rendering him unconscious. Asianzu then rushed him to Arua Regional Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
