Two lives were Thursday May 11, 2023 lost when a Fuso truck believed to be in a dangerous mechanical condition failed to break, knocking a stationery salon car and a stationary motorcycle before hitting dead a pedestrian as it veered from the road.
The incident occured at around 7:50pm in Rukungiri Municipality near the taxi park.
Fuso Fighter Registration Number UBD 667H lost control hence crashing a parked UBG 354J Sienta and UFR 849V Bajaj CT red in colour.
The killer teucker then smashed dead a 48-year- Annet Tukamuhebwa fondly known by her peers as Kakumbi, a resident of Kyatooko in Western Division.
Superintendent of Police, Musa Tibakirana the Rukungiri District Police Commander has confirmed this report.
Tibakirana has further identified the second victim as the Fuso driver, Ezra Beinomugisha a 40-year-old and resident of Rwobusisi, Southern Division in Rukungiri Municipality.
Beinomugisha hit his chest on the steering and died.
Tibakirana confided to this reporter that the scene was visited by a police team headed by the District Traffic Officer, IP Tibeijuka who conveyed the bodies to the mortuary for postmortem.
The DPC who attributed the accident to mechanical fault told this reporter that both and the motorcycle affected by the accident are parked at CPS Rukungiri pending inspection.
The case has since been registered at Rukungiri Central Police Station under reference number TAR 45/2023.
