Police in Apac District are investigating circumstances under which a prominent businessman in Apac Municipality committed suicide.
The 40-year-old Denis Obete who owns a fleet of businesses Denob Supermarket in Apac Municipality was discovered hanging in a room near his bedroom.
His wife, Jane Obete said on Thursday that on Wednesday night they slept together but at around 3:00am of Thursday, she woke up and found her husband missing only to discovered him dangling in a room next to the washroom.
The incident happened at his home in Temogo A cell, Temogo Ward in Arocha Division.
Jimmy Abili, the LC1 chairman of Temogo A cell said that the incident has shocked everyone.
“I have been so close to him nothing seemed to be wrong but I was stunned to see him hanging in his own house,” he said.
North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema said that police have already launched investigations into the matter.
“Our team of scene of crime and suicide department officers visited the scene and conducted the postmortem. We are further investigating the matter to established the cause of his death,” he said.
