Authorities in Namisindwa have arrested the leaders of Bumuyonga Bubutu PDM Sacco for extortion.
The suspects in custody include Peter Soita the Sacco chairman, Secretary, Steven Wabulakha, Supervisor, George Mutabali and Teopista Mukhana the treasurer.
Namisindwa Resident District Commissioner, Hajj Imran Muluga confirmed the arrest on Friday evening.
“They were demanding for money from community members as a pre-condition for accessing money from the bank,” said the RDC.
Mr. Muluga said that the suspects will appear in court on Monday May 22, 2023.
