Contractor disappears with 500m for construction of a seed school
Authorities in Obongi district are looking for the contractor who disappeared from them after he received shs 508 million for the construction of a seed school.
In March, a team of officials led by RDC, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka went for the ground breaking of the construction of Gopele Seed Secondary School in Gimara subcounty where the contractor, Ms. Spider construction Company Ltd received Shs508m on condition that he would start the construction immediately.
On Tuesday May 23, 2023, Hashaka flanked by the Deputy DISO, Paul Abok Stephen and CAO, Andrew Leru went on an impromptu visit to the site, expecting to find the construction going on. They were shocked to be greeted by a deserted site where nothing has so far been done.
“We have really been shocked to find that even after ground breaking over two months ago, nothing is taking place at Gopele Seed Secondary School in Gimara subcounty where the site remains abandoned.
The contractor Spider Construction Company received 508 million shillings but has never done any work,” said RDC Mpimbaza.
“Spider construction company which has two other sites in neighbouring Yumbe district was supposed to absorb about 2 billion shillings by mid June,” he added.
By time of publication of this article our efforts to get a response from the directors of Spider Construction Company were still futile though our team shall ensure we get their side in the next edition.
