At the weekend, police in Ssezibwa region named 8 pilgrims who survived an accidents when their car driver failed to negotiate a corner, veered off the road and overturned.
Regional police spokesperson, Hellen Butoto said Monday morning that that the weekend incident occured at Buwoya round about in Ngogwe sub county, Buikwe district.
Driver of Toyota Hiace Registration Number UBL 716K coming from Namugogo and heading to Tororo via Nyenga-Katosi road failed to negotiate the corner at Buwoya.
Eye witnessed say, the car was running at a high speed and the driver wasn’t familiar with the road.
The pilice has identified the victims who were rushed to Kawolo hospital for treatment as Christy Akello (30), Susan Nyadoi (38), Edith Akumu (40), Mary Akongo (47) and Elizabeth Athieno. Others are America and James Opio.
The police who rushed for rescue at the scene also towed the vehicle to Ngogwe police station for safety and investigations.
