In a joint security operation, 28 suspected goons have been cornered and arrested in Kayunga, the police said Tuesday.

Members of the notorious group arrested have been terrorizing residents in various parts of the district.

Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, Hellen Butoto told the press on Tuesday that the operation was conducted following public outcry.

She says incidents of break-in, murder, robbery and theft have been on the rise in Kayunga.

Butoto said the operation was conducted by a joint security team comprising the police, ISO, UPDF and local leaders who identified the places and homes where the suspects reside.

The operation was carried out in villages within Busaana sub county where recently thugs armed with machetes terrorized residents and took off with valuables.

Among the suspects some are students between 17 and 24 years that police say will be charged with different offences of attempted murder, robberies and simple robberies that they have been committing.
