Police in Rukungiri have in their custody a 30-year-old Ramadhan Tumwebonire for strangling his 27-year-old wife, Emily Kyarikunda, out of shame when she was questioning him for defiled their 13-year-old biological daughter.
Tumwebonire on Thursday at 5:00pm defiled their biological daughter a P.5 pupil at Centenary Primary School.
He followed her to the banana plantation wherr she had gone to collect banana leaves and defiled her from there.
After the act, Tumwebonire told the girl not to tell anyone about it but on reaching home, the daughter narrated everything to her mother when she asked her why dhe was leaping.
“Mom, Dad has defiled me,” said the bleeding daughter whose names we have concealed for being a minor.
Behaving like an understanding wife, Kyarikunda took her husband to their rented room for question.
But while inside, Tumwebonire (the husband) strangled Kyarikunda (his wife), left the dead body there and walked to a nearby eating place.
Police say, the suspect was arrested by vigilant neighnours who got suspicious and asked him where he had left his wife. After the arrest, the residents handed him over.
Tumwebonire, police say, is facing two charges of murder, for killing his wife and defilement of his biological daughter.
The body of deceased has been taken to Rwakabengo Health Centre III for postmortem and the defilement victim to Rukungiri Police heath centre III for examination.
