Health workers at Kawolo Hospital in Buikwe District have laid down tools over delayed salaries.
The disgruntled medical workers say they have gone two months without pay which made life hard.
This was revealed during the working tour of the Leader of Opposition in Parliament Mathias Mpuuga who visited the facility over the weekend
Philex Kighoma the representative of Staff at the core Administration said they will not go back on duty until their salaries for March and May are paid.
“We have decided to go for an industrial action as the last option to awaken government to understand our plight” Kighoma said
He added that at first we wanted to go for Industrial action in April but when authorities heard about our strike they paid our April salaries omitting March but again we have missed payments for the month of May so an industrial is the only option.
The medics say they will be handling only emergency cases but others cases shall not be catered for.
Under emergencies to be handled include expectant mothers, accidents among others.
Kawolo General Hospital is strategically located along Jinja-Kampala highway which makes it one of the busiest health facilities.
Patients complain over latrines.
Meanwhile patients and caretakers have decried the charges for shs 300 every time they visit a latrine at this government facility.
“Some of us have running stomach but we have to pay 300 whenever we visit the latrine. We are tired of paying money to visit a latrine in this government facility” said one of the caretakers
