Following a July 2, 2023 travel advisory by the United Kingdom (UK) to her citizens, alerting them of a probable terror attack to Uganda, state House Uganda has spoken out.
In a short tweet, President Museveni’s Deputy Spokesperson Kirunda Farouk, noted on Sunday July 2, 2023 that there is no need for alarm since the Uganda security forces are ready to protect everbody in the boundaries of the country.
“The advisory by the UK Gov’t to its citizens is noted but Uganda is not at war, and our security forces are there to ensure safety and security of citizens and our visitors. Welcome to Uganda! FK,” Kirunda Tweeted.
Without revealing details of the extent of the threat, the UK advised her Nationals to be on alert due to probable terror.
The UK warns its Nationals living in Uganda to avoid crowded areas and public places including restaurants, hotels, bars and transport hubs.
The UK also predicts major gatherings like sporting and religious events to be a target of terror.
“You should be vigilant all times, especially in crowded areas and public places like hotels, transport hubs, restaurants and bars, and during major gatherings like sporting or religious events and when in close proximity to government installations such as police stations,” read the UK advisory posted on their website July 2.
