Samuel Okello Engola Junior the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer in the Oyam North Parliamentary by-elections has assured his team of victory.
Immediately after casting vote at Awangi, polling station, the visibly hopeful Engola predicated a smooth win and said he was already seeing himself in Parliament.
Junior, as he is fondly called, is a son to the late Col (Rtd) Charles Engola who was shot dead by his bodyguard whom he is seeking to replace in Parliament.
The morning drizzles are a sign of blessing to me,” he said.
As early as 7:00am, voters braved the rain and turned to cast the vote.
Engola claims it is his supporters who were not deterred by the rain to show him the love.
“We have gone through a lot but things have changing in my favour day by day,” he said.
He said that should victory not come to him, he will learn from the failures of the campaign but “for now, I am sure we are making it to Parliament.”
Samuel Engola faces competition from UPC’s Eunice Apio Otuko, Daniel Okello of NUP and Freddy Newton Okello (FDC).
