The State House has rubbished media reports indicating that President Museveni has appointed Josephine Okui Ossiya to the position of Governor of the Bank of Uganda.
This afternoon social media was awash with reports indicating that Okui has already been vetted by Parliament to fill the vacant Governor position.
But in a statement, Faruk Kirunda the Deputy Presidential Press Secretary described the reports as fake.
“FAKE NEWS AGAIN!! People sh’d stop stressing over nothing, and being used by opportunists. When H.E the President makes any appointment, it’s communicated through official channels. Let’s be patient! FK,” posted Kirunda on his Twitter page.
Kirunda clarified that the president has reappointed Josephine Okui Ossiya as a member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Uganda.
“In exercise of his Constitutional mandate, H.E @KagutaMuseveni has reappointed Ms. Josephine Okui Ossiya as a Member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Uganda. Congratulations! FK,” he said.
