Two people perished in a Friday August 4, 2023 morning accident at Kitigoma located in Njeru Municipality along the Jinja-Kampala highway.
Ssezibwa Regional Police Spokesperson, Hellen Butoto tol The Eye Media that the 5:00am accident involved a fuel tanker from Kampala side and a truck from Jinja side.
Driver of the Fuso truck Registration No. UBB 716F veered off his lane and rammed into the fuel tank Registration No UAY 077A/UAY 928A coming from the opposite direction.
The unidentified Fuso driver and his turn man were crashed beyond recognition while the trailer driver and the turn man sustained serious injuries.
Traffic was paralysed on Jinja-Kampala highway for more than four hours as Police and locals ensured that they remove dead bodies which were stuck in the wreckage.
The bodies were taken to Jinja hospital mortuary as the injured were being rushed to Jinja hospital in critical condition
