Police in Buyende district are investigating a case of murder by mob action in which two people were allegedly beaten to death.
The incident occurred on August 6, 2023 at Busumba and Busikwe villages, respectively.
The deceased have been identified as Ngobi Fredrick 55 and Kirya Julius. Ngobi has been a resident of Kasalina Zone, Munyegera Ward, Buwenge Town Council, and Director Citizens of Hope Primary School, Buwenge while Kirya has been a boda-boda rider operating in Kamuli municipality.
It is alleged that at around 1:00am on Sunday at Busikwe village in Gumpi Sub county, Buyende district, one Bamwegobye Matwaire 71, was attacked by a group of suspected armed robbers.
Bamugobye made an alarm and the suspected assailants fled to different directions, prompting the community to pursue them.
The charged mob intercepted two and lynched them at Busikwe and another at Busumba villages.
Sunday morning, the territorial police team led by the OC CID visited the scene.
Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North Regional Police Spokesperson said exhibits of evidential value were recovered from the scene of crime while the bodies were taken to Kamuli general hospital mortuary for postmortem.
