Police in Rukungiri are holding a man for the alleged murder of his friend whom he reportedlh hit with a brick leading to his death.
Police said in a statement Tuesday August 8, 2023 evening that Akampa Erasmas Laban alias Kikaka, a casual labourer and resident of Rushaya ‘A ‘cell, Bwambara sub-county in Rukungiri district hit Tumuhekyi Amara 22, also casual labourer and resident of Rushaya B cell with a brick in the lower abdomen.
“On August 7, 2023 at around 10:00pm at Bwambara trading center, the deceased was hit with a brick on the lower abdomen and he fell down. He was together with Tumuramye Abel alias Kyagulanyi and Bainomugisha Seiz. He got up and walked to his house of stay at Bwambara trading center where he found Byabagye Elia and George Karaveri who stays with him. On August 8, 2023 at around 01:00am, he continually complained of severe body pains. The two supported him to a clinic belonging to Agaba Isaac for first aid. Later at around 05:30am the victim passed on,” said Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson.
Maate added that the police team visited the crime scene and arrested the suspect.
