Busoga has not developed because the Obwa Kyabazinga, Politicians and the Clergy have been disunited, says Dr. Samson Naimanhe Mukembe, the Bishop of Busoga Diocese while delivering his sermon at the prayers event at Namayingo district headquarters.
At the function is the chief guest, the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, the 1st Deputy Prime Minister, Rebecca Kadaga, the Minister for General Duties, Justine Kasule Lumumba, State Minister for Agriculture, Being Kyakulaga, a fleet of Members of Parliament from Busoga, Resident District Commissioners, LCV chairperson, clergy among others.
Dr Mukembo said Busoga cannot develop unless there is unity between the politicians, Obwa Kyabazinga and the Clergy.
He said well as abasoga make up above 8% percent of the population of Uganda, they were among the poorest region as a result of their disunity.
“Before colonialism Busoga engaged in subsistence farming. Every household had a granary and every woman had some banana plants. Men generally cared for cash crops. A man had coffee for fees and supporting their families,” he said.
He said no region in Uganda apart from Kampala was ahead of Busoga at that time. Jinja was the industrial hub of East Africa and created jobs for thousands of people.
He said Busoga shall reclaim its glory only if its three arms; the Obwa Kyabazinga, the politicians and clergy get together regardless of their political colours.
At the time of filing this report at around 12:30pm, the sermon was still ongoing. More details loading.
