The information of Sir Simon Muyanga Lutaya quitting Baba Television only two days after his elevation to the position of General Manager is true and correct, the Eye Media can confirm.
What we need to add is that it is not only him, but the Ntinda based TV station has also lost its head of transmission, Mustafa Kalyowa, the senior camera person, Shafiq Nakibinge and Doreen Mwesige the morning show – Gangamuka co-host.
A source inside Baba TV has reliably told this website that more staff are likely to throw in their towels.
It is alleged that the station owned by former Jinja West MP, Moses Grace Balyeku has not paid staff for several months on top of giving them lip employment where someone is appointed just verbally.
In fact, our source intimated to us that some workers last received salary in November last year and a few others paid up to April this year.
“We cannot continue working under this type of situation where you have no formal appointment, NSSF is not remitted and taking several months without pay yet our viewers take us to be doing well,” one presenter said.
Unlike other staffs members who have left quietly, veteran journalist, Simon Muyanga Lutaaya came out openly to announce his departure.
Muyanga was on August 29 given the position of General Manager of Baba Media Group. His appointment was announced by the station’s Communications Director, Adam Al-mahadi Kungu who said the veteran journalist was expected to enhance the brand’s competitiveness in the industry.
But while signing out of his Tamale Mirundi show on August 31, 2023 morning, Muyanga Lutaya a former Bulamogi East MP contestant announced he was quiting Baba TV.
