The House of Bishops on Wednesday October 4, 2023, elected Rev. Can. Paul Hannington Suubi as the first Bishop of the newly curved East Busoga Diocese.
The election of Suubi was communicated by the Acting Provincial Secretary, Balaam Muheebwa in a letter released Wednesday evening.
In the letter, the Acting Provincial Secretary says that the Bishop elect will be consecrated and enthroned on Sunday November 19, 2023 at St Stephens Pro Cathedral, Bugiri.
Rev. Can. Suubi is married to Dr. Margaret Stella Suubi and the couple has three biological children.
He was ordained a Deacon in August 1993 and ordained a Priest in 1997.
Rev Can. Suubi who accepted Jesus in 1994 is currently serving as Assistant Vicar at St Andrew’s Church of Uganda in Jinja City.
He is the longest serving Chaplain at Busoga College Mwiri.
East Busoga Diocese was created in 2022 having been curved from Busoga Diocese which has since been divided into three dioceses; Busoga, Central Busoga and East Busoga which has two districts of Namayingo and Bugiri.
